Captain Jarkko Toivola, born 1959, has worked for the past 25 years in various towage, terminals, offshore and icebreaking related jobs.
He has worked as manager in Neste Oil towage, terminals and new-building projects. He has been a training master of azimuth propulsion vessels globally, including ice-management operations in Sakhalin. Captain Toivola has also been as an invited specialist on various international projects and industry forums for studies, development and standardization of technologies and operational safety of ice- and assistance-operations.
For the last 5 years he has hold the position of Chief Maritime Specialist and Head of winternavigation unit in Finnish Transport Agency, the authority in charge of icebreaking and winternavigation in Finland. At the moment he is also in charge of the innovative new-building icebreaker project for Finland to be delivered this year.
Beginning 15.9.2016, he will join Alfons Håkans as part of the management team as a director/vice President. In his new role he will be responsible for overall development of operating and marketing of the Alfons Håkans fleet.
